It's Been, Like, Forever and A Day

Seriously, I don't blame you for never coming here and reading my blog. I mean last time I posted a blog, I still lived in Illinois and was a graduate student and owned a cute little white house on a park.

A lot has changed since then and I don't really have the time/space/will to write about it. Needless to say we have been busy with other things on our plate and left the website in the past for the most part. I mean look at the comments over there (->). bet at home? Expekt? Caralluma fimbriata??? Don't tell me that was people I know posting those.

Anyway, I figured I would just blog about what you are supposed to blog about. First, some event or thought you had recently that you feel the need to share with anyone who is listening, and second, a link to a news story/picture/online item that is an even bigger waste of time than reading countless blog posts that don't offer any real information about the people you care about. So, here goes:

1. I have been listening to Pastor James MacDonald of Harvest Bible Fellowship in Rolling Meadows, Illinois on my iPod while driving to/from work. He is doing a series about complaining. I thought, "Maybe I should think of one thing per day that I am not going to complain about, but instead see the blessing in."

Immediately I thought of my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. I think I am going to name it Virgil (it is a must to name all of the cars you own in your life) because it is always on the verge of another repair. At the end of last summer it was obvious that the Jeep (umm Virgil) was going to stop air condition service in the forward cabin. That is definitely something to complain about normally, but I heard yesterday that July 2009 was the coolest July on record in Minnesota. So instead of planning on sweating it out all summer long, I have had one enjoyable "windows down, radio up" commute day after day all summer long. That is something to be grateful for.

2. If the baby that said "Islam is the Light" wasn't enough for you, check out the new dolly that teaches girls who still play with dolls to breastfeed. Yes, that is right:

It even comes with a training bra with the nursing flap and everything. The best part was the suggestions at the bottom of the article for other dolls that may or may not be appropriate for doll-loving children of any age.
